Hugh D.T. Williamson scholarship winner

Rhyll Gardner F Fin has been awarded the 2008 Hugh D.T. Williamson Scholarship.

The annual scholarship recognises the outstanding contribution a member has made to the financial services industry and wider community. The prize is a place at the International Banking Summer School, and is valued at $16,000.

The award acknowledges Rhyll’s extensive contribution to the banking industry in a career that spans close to 20 years. She was appointed the Queensland General Manager of St George Bank in November2005, and has been with the bank since 1992. Her experience includes roles in retail, corporate and business banking, financial markets, treasury, risk, marketing, product and segment management.

Rhyll was also a Queensland finalist in the 2006 Telstra Business Women’s Awards.

The 2008 International Banking Summer School will be held from 13 to 24 July at the Kowloon Shangri-La, Hong Kong.

About the scholarship

The Hugh D T Williamson Scholarship is named in honour of the past president of the Australasian Institute of Banking and Finance (now Finsia), and former general manager of the ANZ bank, Hugh D.T. Williamson.

The annual award is open to members in both Australia and New Zealand, and acknowledges excellence in financial services. Candidates must demonstrate a significant contribution to the banking profession and involvement in the wider community.

In addition to the $16,000 placement at the International Banking Summer School, the prize also elevates the members as an ambassador for financial services in Australasia, with the view to inspiring and leading their industry peers.
