Mentoring program back by popular demand

Following the resounding success of the first round of Finsia's Mentoring Program, applications are now open for the program's second round in New South Wales and Victoria.

With more than 100 mentors and mentorees currently involved with the first round of the program in New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia, and many more enrolling in the upcoming Queensland and New Zealand programs, the program has been a resounding success.

"I was chatting with one of the Melbourne mentorees last week, who said it was even better than he expected - and he was really excited about it to start with. He said his mentor is providing him with more insights and stretching him in how he think's about his career in ways that he hadn't imagined before. He also remarked on the knowledge and skill of the mentor," said Pauline Wearne, the coordinator of Finsia's mentoring program.

"This sentiment is also shared by our mentors, who are just so keen to invest in the future of financial services. They see their investment of time in the program as a big part of that. They also have a connection with the mentorees - they want to see them grow their careers, because they have been able to benefit from it themselves."

The program, which connects aspiring leaders of the financial services industry with the expertise, insights and networks of today's leaders, is the first for the industry. The structured 16-week program is fully supported by Finsia staff, and involves a commitment to regular meetings as well as attendance at workshops networking functions. Finsia matches mentorees with appropriate mentors, based on their needs, goals and aspirations.

Applications for the program's second round in New South Wales and Victoria close on Friday, 4 July 2008.
