New Industry Poll Released - NZ wants similar regulatory ‘playing field’ to other nations

13 December 2006 - Senior finance industry representatives overwhelmingly believe that New Zealand should adopt regulations that are consistent with international standards and codes unless there’s a good reason for NZ to opt out. That’s according to industry opinion polling released today by Finsia.

Finsia’s Equity Analysts Survey reveals ‘Normalised’ Profit and Segmental Reporting as key concerns

11 December 2006 - Finsia has released a new independent survey titled, Company Reporting - the Equity Analyst Perspective, revealing in the first year of reporting under International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) analysts were generally positive about the standard of company reporting. However, there were concerns raised about segmental reporting and the inconsistency in calculating the ‘normal/sustainable’ profit figure.

ASX and Finsia combine to extend equity research coverage for ASX-listed companies

14 November 2006 - Australian Stock Exchange Limited (ASX) and Finsia - the Financial Services Institute of Australasia - have signed a Heads of Agreement to commence a two-year pilot scheme to increase research coverage of medium-sized ASX-listed companies.

Finsia research finds SRI supported by ‘Mum And Dad’ investors but further education is needed

22 September 2006 - New consumer research released by Finsia at an international conference on sustainable responsible investment (SRI) in Sydney today, has found that ‘mum and dad’ investors would invest in SRI products if given the tools to better understand the concept and information about the performance record of SRI funds.

5 July 2006 - A nationwide public opinion poll of the under-40's has found that alarming numbers of young women think their current retirement savings are insufficient to reach an adequate level of retirement income. Despite this awareness many young women do not contribute extra dollars to superannuation.

Finsia Proposes Takeovers Law Reform

21 April 2006 - Finsia has released a package of proposals to reform Australia's takeovers regime.  The Finsia Takeovers Package contains reforms to the Australian takeovers laws to improve the market for corporate control, remove existing anomalies and protect the rights of minority shareholders.
