Tuesday 30 September 2008: Senior finance industry representatives agree that regulatory hurdles continue to obstruct the free flow of financial services and products across the tasman and further regulatory reform is required, according to an industry opinion poll released today by Finsia – Financial Services Institute of Australasia. Monday 19 May 2008: Senior finance industry representatives agree that The Australian financial services industry must be better prepared for the risks and opportunities of climate change, according to a study released today by Finsia – the Financial Services Institute of Australasia and Griffith University’s Sustainable Business Research Initiative.

Finsia announces new president

Tuesday 29 April 2008: Finsia – the Financial Services Institute of Australasia – today announced the election of Chris van Aanholt to the role of President to the Board of Directors, effective immediately. Mr van Aanholt has served as Vice President on the Finsia Board since 2006 and Director since 2005. He succeeds Michael Shepherd, who has concluded his two year term. Mr van Aanholt is currently Group Head of Operational Risk and Compliance at Westpac Banking Corporation.

Finsia joins forces with climate change experts

Tuesday 8 April 2008: Finsia - the Financial Services Institute of Australasia - will join climate change experts today to examine the impact of climate change on the financial services industry, to formally launch its policy and research initiative – Sustainability post-Kyoto: opportunities for the Australian finance industry.

Finsia luncheon briefing: impact of climate change on the financial services industry

Monday 31 March 2008 - Climate change experts - Alan Tate, Director of Cambiar and Adam Kirkman, Global Director for Climate Change and Sustainability, Protiviti - will discuss Australia’s ratification of the Kyoto Protocol and the release of the Interim Garnaut Report and will provide insight into key climate change policies and sustainability issues affecting the financial services industry.

Finsia warns - Australian household credit squeeze must be addressed

17 January 2008 - Finsia cautions that a coordinated approach from government, industry and consumers is needed to address the current Australian household credit squeeze.
