Membership categories

There are several membership levels, which are based on your academic qualifications, industry experience and contributions to Finsia.

With most levels, you gain industry recognition through the use of postnominals. These credentials, which are placed after your last name, signify your status as a respected and well-informed industry professional.  Finsia’s membership categories are:

Affiliate

For individuals who have an interest in the financial services industry. This category is relevant to personal investors and current students with no formal tertiary qualifications. An affiliate does not have voting rights and carries no postnominal.

Associate (A Fin)

For those who hold a Diploma, Graduate Certificate or a Degree from an accredited education provider or other recognised industry qualification and are working in the industry. At Finsia’s discretion, professionals may also be elevated to this category if they have made a substantial personal contribution to Finsia for a period of three years or to the financial services industry for a period of five years.

Senior Associate (SA Fin)

For those who hold a Postgraduate Diploma or a Masters from an accredited education provider or other recognised industry qualification, and at least three years career experience working in the financial services industry. At Finsia’s discretion, professionals may also be elevated to this category if they have made a substantial personal contribution to Finsia for a period of five years or to the financial services industry for a period of seven years.

Fellow (F Fin)

For those who hold a Masters Degree or Graduate Diploma and at least five years career experience working in the financial services industry. At Finsia’s discretion, professionals may also be elevated to this category if they have made a substantial personal contribution to Finsia for a period of seven years or to the financial services industry for a period of 10 years.

Senior Fellow (SF Fin)

Awarded by invitation only from the Finsia Board and provided to professionals who are suitably qualified and have given a significant contribution to Finsia and/or the financial services industry.

Life Member

A Senior Fellow whom the Finsia Board has elevated in recognition of distinguished service to Finsia.

Service in all categories should be above and beyond normal job requirements for the benefit of the wider financial services industry.

Full-time students in relevant courses or applicants in extenuating circumstances may be eligible for concessional rates. Please contact Finsia's head office.
