Speaker's Bios


Allison Hill, Director of Investments

Allison Hill joined QIC’s Global Multi-Asset (GMA) team in January 2018.  The GMA team is a leading provider of innovative multi-asset class and sector specific asset class solutions.

Allison is the Director of Investments within the GMA Team.  She has direct responsibility for the investment strategy for various funds, including WorkCover Queensland.  In addition, Allison leads GMA’s external manager research program. 
Allison has 24 years’ experience in investment management and financial markets.  Prior to joining QIC, Allison was the Chief Executive Officer at DMP Asset Management, where she oversaw the investment process and asset consulting practice.  Prior to this, Allison spent 11 years at Frontier Advisors as a Senior Consultant.  Allison was the lead consultant for several of Australia’s largest superannuation funds, was the Head of Debt and Alternatives Research and a member of Frontier’s investment and leadership committees.  Allison has a Bachelor of Commerce from Melbourne University and holds several post graduate qualifications including a Graduate Diploma in Management from the AGSM and is a GAICD.

James Lane, QLD State General Manager - Business Banking, ANZ

James is the State General Manager, Business Banking at ANZ and leads a team over 120 bankers who support customers typically with turnover of $5m - $50m.   Prior to this, James was the State GM in SME banking  for Queensland and Northern territory with a strong focus on start-ups and growing family businesses. 

James is not a traditional “Banker” with a background in hospitality and strategy and was one of the youngest Snr leaders at ANZ when he commenced his first Executive role at the age of 32.  With passion for all businesses, big and small and a particular interest in start-ups and scale ups, James also has personal interests as a Founder and Director of a number of businesses which allows him to have somewhat of a different & unique lens on his role at ANZ.

James considers the role that his team play to be very significant in the local community and wider economy, and having been in business is very empathic to the challenges that most customers face in good and bad times, and the role that banks can play to support customers through these cycles.

Matthew Miller – Development Director Qld – Lendlease

Matthew has over 25 years’ experience in the property industry including roles with some of country’s  leading property companies including Colliers International, FKP Property Group, Urbis and Grocon.

Matthew joined Lendlease in 2016 as a Senior Development Management, Commercial within the Urban Regeneration team and was promoted to Regional Manager Qld – Commercial in late 2017. In May 2019 he was promoted to Development Director Qld and is responsible for the planning, development and delivery of Lendlease’s $2.9 billion Brisbane Showgrounds precinct and Pine Valley a 2,500 dwelling communities project located 40km north of the Brisbane CBD.

Matthew is a current board member of Brisbane City Council’s Inclusive Brisbane Board and was a past board member of South Bank Corporation and Chair of the PCA’s Qld Commercial & Corporate Real Estate Committee. He was president of the Brisbane Development Association (BDA) from 2010 to 2012.
