David Neal, Managing Director, The Future Fund
The Future Fund is Australia’s Sovereign Wealth Fund, investing for the benefit of future generations of Australians. Established in 2006 the Fund has grown to $117 billion based on original contributions of $60.5 billion. The organisation also manages over $10 billion in a number of other public investment funds.
David Neal, the Future Fund’s Managing Director, will provide an update on the Fund’s positioning and performance and its investment model and strategy. He will explain how it pursues its long-term objective against the backdrop of a volatile economic, market and geopolitical environment. In doing so he will outline the Fund’s perspective on global markets and how it identifies and assesses investment opportunities in Australia, the United Kingdom and globally.
Prior to taking up his role as Managing Director in August 2014, David was the Fund’s Chief Investment Officer responsible for the management and leadership of the investment team who invest the assets of the Future Fund and other fund portfolios.
David joined the Future Fund in June 2007 from Watson Wyatt Australia where he was Head of Investment Consulting. David spent 15 years with Watson Wyatt where he started his career in the United Kingdom and moved to Australia to establish and lead the firm's investment consulting business in Australia. David graduated from St Edmund Hall, Oxford, with an MA Hons in Electronic and Structural Materials Engineering.
