Andrew has been CEO of ICEHOUSE since it started in 2001 by The University of Auckland. They work with a wide range businesses at various stages of growth- from entrepreneurs launching new ventures through successful owner-managers wanting to take their business to the next level.
With dinner and drinks provided, the evening provides members a chance to wind down at the end of the year and network with other finance professionals.
Andrew joined The Icehouse in 2001 as CEO. Andy leads the charge in creating a high performing NZ economy where ideas and businesses thrive.
He specializes in enabling business growth, innovation, networking and building funding strategies for early stage and fast growing companies. Andy is a commentator on most things to do with entrepreneurial Kiwi businesses, and gets involved in a range of ‘ecosystem’ activities to help move our companies faster and better. His earlier career has included being a lawyer, a personal assistant, a retailer and marketer and corporate venturing.
Prior to joining the Icehouse, he was CEO and Director of Inventure, Fletcher Building’s venture capital arm that he established in 1998. Andrew was also a member of the Advisory Board of Unitec’s Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and Chair of the Unitec Accelerator from 1999 to 2001.
Andrew started his career as a commercial lawyer for three years at Russell McVeagh one of NZ's leading firms, after graduating in 1992 with a Bachelor of Commerce, LLB Honours. Following Russell McVeagh he was with a publicly listed NZ company, Skellerup Group for four years in various roles.
His specialties include: Business growth, private equity and venture capital, internationalisation of technology ventures, research and development and economic development.
